Seven EV Bears honored for football accomplishments

The All District football team was announced this past week for District 4 8 Man football. Mike Gerard’s English Valleys Bears found seven of their own on the list, led by four seniors.

Senior lineman Daniel Tapken earned the distinction for his final season as a Bear, compiling 20.0 tackles, four tackles for loss, and one sack. His contributions along the offensive line were also paramount for the success of the offense — especially the running game.

Sophomore Beau Flander thrived running behind Tapken and the rest of the line, earning himself an All District nod as well. Flander finished with 1,309 rushing yards, which was good for third in the district and 10th overall in 8 Man football. The sophomore also totaled 15 rushing touchdowns. Defensively, Flander was crucial to the Bears’ success, accruing 43.5 tackles, four tackles for loss, and one sack.
