North Mahaska falls to SICL Leader

NEW SHARON – North Mahaska hosted the South Iowa Cedar League leader Belle Plaine Thursday and held leads in the first two sets, but could not stop the Lady Plainsmen falling in straight sets 25-19, 25-19 and 25-13.

North Mahaska took a quick 7-2 lead in the opening set then went toe-to-toe with the Lady Plainsmen with Paige Layman serving the Warhawks to a 12-12 tie. North Mahaska as they have done in the past few matches won most long volleys. Belle Plaine’s Nicholas Phillippe, who had a match-high 23 kills, dominated the net much of the night.
