Keota Salt and Sand Supply Dwindles

The Keota City Council met for the regularly scheduled meeting in the Keota City Hall on February 4, 2019 at 7 p.m. During Roll Call everyone was marked as present except Council member Rod Hill. Next, the ‘Consent Agenda’ items; ‘Minutes of January 21, 2019 Meeting’ and ‘Bills for Payment’ were briefly discussed and approved.

The only citizen comment was from Jim Tinnes who inquired if the council had heard anything from the lawyer regarding the McDonald Bone Yard Issue. The council requested that the City Clerk re-email the current “rough draft” ordinance waiting for the council’s review and the discussion for this will be added to the next meeting’s agenda.

Public Works Director Kevin Slaubaugh reported that the “salt and sand supply is down to about 10 percent” and he’s hoping to make it through the rest of the winter. $1200 worth of repairs has been needed for the snowplow, due to both cylinders being pitted and leaking, as well as cracking hoses nearing breakage.
