Heisdorffer takes over as Chief

With Ryan Sieren stepping down from Keota Fire Chief to spend more time with his family, Chris Heisdorffer has taken over the reigns.

“Being elected to the Keota Fire Chief is quite an honor. I’ve got some big shoes to fill from previous chiefs and I hope I can do half as well as they did,” Heisdorffer said.

Heisdorffer has been a member of the Keota Fire Department for 18 years and hopes that his experience will help him with his new duties as chief. Previous to taking over as chief, he had served as assistant chief.

“It helps that our department has a great group of guys,” Heisdorffer said. “I am excited to see what this year will bring with this position.”

Heisdorffer’s new duties will include running monthly meetings, setting the budget, and filing paperwork, along with his main duties of ensuring that all members of the department have the proper equipment to protect themselves when it comes to fighting fire, as well as making sure all members are up to date on the training requirements.
