Grassley Visits Kelderman Manufacturing

OSKALOOSA – Iowa Sen. Charles Grassley made his annual appearance in Mahaska County on Thursday taking time to visit Kelderman Manufacturing east of Oskaloosa and take questions from the audience. The visit is part of the senators 99 county visits he does each year.

Company vice president Jeff Kelderman and president Gary Kelderman shared with Grassley the history of the company of 45 years and some of the fabrications that have made the company famous.

“I like coming to these businesses because most of the working people cannot come to my town hall meetings,” the senator told the crowd. “I’m going to have a town hall in Ottumwa today and I know a lot of workers cannot get off work to come.

“It is also good to see these types of companies. How do we not know about them? You should be on the cover of the newspaper everyday.”

Grassley has served in Congress since January 1975 after spending 15 years in the Iowa House. He was a member of the U.S. House from 1975-1981 when he became Senator. He currently serves as President Pro Tem of the Senate and is third in the line of succession to the Presidency.

The 85-year old Grassley answered several questions from the audience ranging from Social Security and health care to climate change and the Mueller investigation.
