Buehneman charged with intimidation with dangerous weapon

SIGOURNEY- Keokuk County Deputies have arrested a Sigourney man, after Deputies say he shot at a vehicle driving by his house. Alan Craig Buehneman was arrested on May 7. According to a criminal complaint, Buehneman shot at the vehicle from inside his house, narrowly missing Auston Herman, the vehicle’s driver.

“As the victim drove by the home, the Defendant shot his rifle out the open window of his house and into the rear window of the victim's truck, narrowly missing the victim, and exiting the front driver's side windshield of the truck,” writes Chief Deputy Adam Pence in the complaint.

Pence stated that the victim feared that he could have been killed, while also stating that Buehneman acknowledged that he had fired the shot, intending to scare Herman. Buehneman was taken into custody and charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, a Class C Felony.

Buehneman appeared before Judge Daniel Kitchen on May 8, where bail was set at $5,000, cash or surety. He posted bail the next day. Online court records do not list an attorney for Buehneman, however he did not request a court appointed attorney at his initial appearance. A preliminary hearing has been set for May 17 at 11 a.m. A no-contact order between Buehneman and Herman has been put in place.
